Ladies and Gentlemen, Your 2009 World Series Champs

The New York Yankees accomplished an achievement Wednesday night that they have not done since 2000 against the New York Mets. What did they do? They became the 2009 World Series champsby defeating the Philadelphia Phillies. They took the series with a 4 and 2 record. The final game 6 was held where it began, at Yankee Stadium. Hideki Matsui was the World Series MVP with 6 Runs Batted In on a two run homerun, a double, and a single. The Yankees won the World Series at the opening of their old stadium in 1923, just as they did this year in their new stadium that opened this season. The recreation of watching Major League Baseball on t.v. or attending games has come to an end. However there are other highly wathed and attended sports underway such as NFL football, NBA basketball, and NHL hockey.

While this is the end of one recreational past time for Yankees fans, there is still one more chance to see the Yankees before spring training. Friday at 11 A.M. the Yankees will be on floats in a parade in New York City celebrating their victory with their fans lining the streets. There will be a dozen floats that the team will be riding on. After the parade there will be a ceremony at city hall for the 2009 MLB World Series Champions.
